Psalms  ◦   Chapter 65

1Because of you, O God, there is quiet rest and praise in Zion;
what you have promised you have fulfilled.

2Because you listen and understand what we truly need,
people from all walks of life come to you.

3Selfishness and fear — deviations from your design — overwhelm us,
but you have the remedy to cleanse, heal and restore us.

4You have chosen our health and happiness
to bring us home to live with you!
You fill us with the goodness of your heavenly family
to be part of your holy temple.

5You have responded to our need in the most amazing way,
O God, our Remedy,
the source of eternal security for people the world over,
even to the farthest seas.

6You formed the mountains by your strength;
you are encompassed with power and ability.

7You calm the raging seas
and the roaring waves,
and the turmoil of the people.

8Even people in the farthest reaches of the earth
are awed by your wonderful works;
what you have done brings songs of joy
from one end of the earth to the other.

9You sustain the earth and send rain to water it;
you bring forth abundant life.
God, you fill the streams with water
to provide the earth with food.
This is your design — how your law of love works:

10From the oceans you send rain upon the plowed fields
and soak them with water;
you soften the soil with showers
and cause the crops to grow.

11At harvest you provide a rich bounty;
wherever you go life flourishes.

12The pastures of the wilderness overflow with life;
the hills, rich with vegetation, bring joy to the heart.

13The meadows are covered with flocks
and the valleys are full of grain;
the entire world sings for joy.
