Psalms ◦ Chapter 61

1O God, listen closely to my plea;
pay special attention to my prayer.

2From the ends of the earth I call out to you —
overwhelmed, discouraged, and feeling like I cannot go on —
lead me back to you, my Rock who lifts me up.

3For you have always been my refuge —
an impenetrable fortress — from the enemy.

4I will live in your sanctuary forever:
safe in your presence, covered in your glory.

5For you have heard my commitment to you, O God,
and you have given me the reward due to those
who revere your character of love.

6Give the king a long life,
spanning several generations.

7May he live in God’s presence forever,
preserved by your never-failing love and truth.

8Then my life will be a perpetual song of praise to your character of love —
a fulfillment of my commitment to you every day of my life.
