Psalms  ◦   Chapter 146

1Praise the Lord.
I Praise the Lord with my entire being.

2I will praise the Lord by revealing his character of love in my life;
I will make my life a song of praise to my God.

3Do not put your trust in world leaders —
humans, terminal in sin, who have no remedy to save and heal.

4When their breath of life departs, they decay, returning to the dust;
on that day their thoughts cease.

5Happy and healthy are those whose help comes from the God of Jacob,
who trust in the Lord their God —

6the Designer, Creator and Sustainer of heaven and earth,
the sea and all that is in them.
The Lord preserves truth — the methods of love — forever.

7He does what is right — he delivers the oppressed, dispensing the justice of love;
he gives food to those who hunger,
and those imprisoned by fear and selfishness he sets free.

8To those blinded by Satan’s lies, the Lord gives the ability to see reality;
those who humble themselves, the Lord heals to everlasting life;
the Lord’s love fills those who are set right with him.

9The Lord preserves those who are in this world but not of it;
he is father to the fatherless and comforter to those who mourn,
but he fills the way of wickedness with frustration,
multiplying the opportunities to repent.

10The Lord reigns forever;
your God, O Zion, is everlasting.
Praise the Lord.
